Directing a Child's Path

As the time draws nearer for the birth of my son Noah; I sit back and ponder just what kind of man he will grow up to be. Will he be more like me or take after his mother? Heck, who is he gonna look more like? Secretly, well not anymore, I hope he is a spitting image of his old man. However, if he could put on muscle like his grandpa Jim (my dad), and have the athleticism of his nono Andy that wouldn't be half bad.

None the less, beyond things I can't control like which way his genes take him I do know of a few things that are in my grasp. Most importantly his faith. I want my child to grow up in home where he learns to love Christ, and his One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. I want his faith to be his own; not his parents. I don't want him to be drawn to church as a teenager because of girls, play stations, or pizza nights, but because he understands the call of God on his life as his follower.

If Noah doesn't like cycling, wrestling, fantasy football, or homemade pizza I can surely learn to love his interests. Somehow, I feel like I won't have to worry about him carrying on the faith being handed to him.
