Branding Jesus

When Jesus hung upon the cross on the hillside of Golgotha I wonder if he ever thought about the local Christian bookstore. I wonder if he pondered myriads of cd's (nearly a quarter of those in stock containing no explicit mention of his name; just the fact that a couple of dudes in the hand go to a church), t-shirts with catchy phrases that mirror the latest ad from department stores, wind chimes and bird feeders with John 3:16 inscribed on them, and best of all TESTAMINTS.

Have we as Christians gone too far with our over-branding of Jesus turning anything and everything into a "Christian" item by simply slapping on a scripture verse, picture of dove or cross, and or praying hands? Is this being done in the name of witnessing or finding any and every avenue to sell products to a niche group?
