In Chains for Christ? Really?

Is this woman serious?

In case you have been living under the rock of Gibraltar the nation of Haiti has been devastated due to the recent earthquake and aftershocks. Countless relief agencies have poured support into this tiny Caribbean nation including several churches. Most recently a Baptist church from Idaho sent missionaries in order to help the children who lost their parents and bring them to foster agencies in the Dominican Republic. Their plan was to rescue at least 100 children. They cleared permission with the DR government, however, they cleared nothing with the Haitian government.

Thus, when they were caught at the border they were arrested and thrown into jail. If you watched the video above in the link you saw the woman plead her case saying, “Philippians 1″. The missionaries truly believe they are in chains for Christ. Yet, I have to ask are you for real?

  • Were you arrested on the same grounds that St. Paul was giving you the right to quote him tongue and cheek?
  • Were you even arrested for publicly proclaiming the gospel?
  • Have you been beaten or evenly remotely hurt for your faith?
  • Were you arrested for anything more then breaking the law by going behind the back of Haiti and transporting children? Heck, even transporting (kidnapping) children who still had parents who were alive!

I had to walk away from the television this morning when I saw her claim her imprisonment was because of anything related to her faith in Christ. They were arrested for willingly disobeying the government (something Paul clearly tells the Roman believers is wrong) and not because they love Jesus.
