What is Hell Like?

Recently I had a discussion with one of my co-workers about whether Hell exists or not. They had been doing research for their Bible Study group, and stumbled upon a website that rather convincingly used scripture to show that their is no Hell. This website, promoted by a splinter/cultish church in Australia that is about as theologically Liberal as possible, exalted the idea of annihilation (the soul is destroyed if the person does not go to Heaven).

This began a study into Old and New Testament scriptures about flames, worms, the city dump outside of Jerusalem, stories we've heard of people who have been declared medically dead and went to Hell for a short period and came back to tell their story, and angels being bound until their judgment. As we cringed at the thought of demons, flames, flesh eating worms, and sheer pain I thought back to the events of Fatima and how a nun was giving the vision of Hell as being a place of torment because those there will be cut off the presence of God for eternity.

To help prepare my friend for their Bible study and just for general knowledge I would like to know what all of you think of when Hell comes to mind.
